About Me

I am Mizuki from Japan. I was 10 years old when I first started studying and practicing calligraphy with my teacher. I have gained the certificate to teach calligraphy (Grade 5) when I graduated high school.

From my personal experiences, calligraphy has been a way of meditation and it has given me the moments to reflect on myself as what I have in mind are purely presented on the piece of paper. When I feel happy and positive, the words absorb the energy and look more alive.

My ultimate goal to keep practicing calligraphy is to spread its beauty to people around the world.

🖌️Daily practice - Dong Qichang

董其昌　「邠風図詩巻」

Dong Qichang was a scholar of the 17th year of the Wanli era (1589). He was a master of poetry, calligraphy, and painting, and also had a deep knowledge of calligraphy and painting, and was a leader of the calligraphy and painting circles at the end of the Ming dynasty, which greatly influenced later generations. This work, written at the age of 67, is a poem he composed in running cursive script inspired by a painting by Zhao Meng-fu in the Shijing (Poetry Sutra), on colored paper with cloud patterns.

🖌️Behind the scenes of every creative process…

I heard the story of a violinist who played for 45 minutes in a New York subway. A handful of people stopped, a couple clapped, and the violinist raised about $30 in tips.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. In that subway, Joshua played one of the most intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars.

Two days before he played in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out a Boston theatre, with seats averaging about $100 each.

This experiment proved that the extraordinary in an ordinary environment does not shine and is so often overlooked and undervalued❤️‍🩹

There are brilliantly talented people everywhere who aren’t receiving the recognition and reward they deserve. But once they arm themselves with value and confidence and remove themselves from an environment that isn’t serving them, they thrive and grow🍀

Your gut is telling you something. Listen to it if it’s telling you where you are isn’t enough! Go where you are appreciated and valued.
